COVID-19 Ride Standards

Last Updated July 1, 2020 12:00 PM

Boomerang’s top priority is the health and safety of the Riders and Drivers

who use the platform, now more than ever!

With the evolving situation around COVID-19, we want to make sure Boomerang Drivers and Riders know the best ways to help protect themselves.  According to the CDC and local health officials, people who have been diagnosed with COVID-19, suspect they may have it, or are being evaluated for it should not use rideshare, public transportation or taxis.

We continue to monitor the ongoing situation and make updates based on official guidance from federal and local health authorities.

RIDER/ORGANIZER STANDARDS: To ride with Boomerang, you agree to CDC guidelines and local regulations.

  • Your rider(s) will not ride with Boomerang if they have COVID-19, think they have it or have related symptoms

  • Rider(s) will wear a face covering at pick up, during ride, and at drop off

  • Rider(s) will keep vehicle clean and sanitize your hands frequently

  • Rider(s) will leave front seat open

  • Open your window when possible

DRIVER STANDARDS: To drive for Boomerang, you agree to CDC guidelines and local regulations.

  • Don’t drive for Boomerang if you have COVID-19, think you have it or have related symptoms

  • Wear a face covering at pick up, during ride, and at drop off

  • Keep vehicle clean and sanitize your hands frequently

  • Leave front seat open

  • Avoid recirculating air

The COVID-Safe Ride Standards will include the following reinforcements:

  • Agreeing to COVID-19 Ride Standards: Drivers and Organizers will have to accept these guidelines at Sign Up.

  • Continuous app reminder: The app will remind Drivers and Riders/Organizers of CDC guidelines and the Home page will have a reminder to cancel ride if they have been diagnosed with COVID-19, suspect they have it, or are being evaluated for it.

  • Personal protective equipment: Consistent with CDC recommendations, Drivers and Riders must use appropriate personal protective equipment during Rides.

  • Plastic dividers between the front and back seat: These will be used at Driver discretion. Dividers help minimize potential virus transmission through airborne particles.

  • Vehicle sanitation: Vehicles must be cleaned and disinfected between each ride following CDC recommendations, especially high-touch areas like rear door handles, boosters and seat belts. Boomerang will help connect Drivers with  sanitizing kits and the necessary personal protective equipment to deliver rides safely in the time of COVID-19.

  • Resources and education: Boomerang will connect Ride Organizers and Drivers to COVID-Safe Rides Standards resources and education. In addition, the Home page will continue to remind Ride Organizers and Drivers of COVID-Safe Ride Standards and best practices.

  • Anonymous reporting: Boomerang will facilitate anonymous COVID-19 exposure reporting, to the extent that user's privacy interests remain protected.
