Driver Insurance Requirements

Drivers will need to maintain automobile liability insurance for the vehicle you have registered with and you will operate while driving for Boomerang.  Insurance limits must be equal to or greater than the minimum requirements for the state where you drive.

While operating on Boomerang’s network, your personal automobile insurance policy might not support liability coverage, depending on the policy's terms.  Your personal automobile insurance policy may not provide collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorist or underinsured motorist coverage, or medical payments when you use your vehicle in connection with the Boomerang platform.

It is your responsibility to notify your insurance provider that you will be providing transportation network company services and determine your individual coverage information.

If the vehicle that you plan to use to provide transportation network company services for Boomerang has a lien against it, you must notify the lienholder that you will be using the vehicle for transportation services to determine whether it violates the terms of your contract with the lienholder.

Boomerang Insurance

Boomerang maintains a comprehensive automobile insurance policy that is in effect while Drivers are logged into the Boomerang application and either on the way to pick up a Rider or while transporting a Rider.  Policy coverage information is available here

Coverage begins whenever you are en route to pick-up (you have tapped “Begin Ride” in the Driver app) referred as Period 2 and continues until you have completed drop-off for your rider (tapped “Ride Completed” in the Driver app) referred as Period 3.

During a Boomerang ride, you are insured with the following:

Third-party liability coverage

  • Designed specifically for transporting children and meets regulatory requirements

  • Includes up to $1 million in liability coverage per accident

    • Insures bodily injuries and property damage you have caused to your riders, people in other vehicles, pedestrians, vehicles, and other property

Auto physical damage coverage

  • As long as you maintain collision and comprehensive coverage on your personal auto insurance, Boomerang’s insurance will kick in to provide physical damage coverage for the vehicle for any accident you are found to be at-fault for (coverage will be determined at the time of the claim)

  • There is a $2,500 deductible that you must pay before coverage applies

Uninsured motorist coverage

  • Insures you and your riders, as mandated by regulatory requirements,  if an accident occurs on a Boomerang ride and the other driver is at-fault but does not have sufficient insurance, as well as hit and runs

If you are in an accident during a Boomerang ride, you must reach out to our Support team immediately at (605) 777-4766.
