Meet Boomerang's First Driver

Q:

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself and experience caring for children?

A:

My name is Kristi Christensen and my family and I live in Brandon. My husband and I have 4 kids ranging in age from 17 to 21. I absolutely love being a mom, although as my kids have gotten older and more independent they seem to need me less. I do still get to spend a lot of time with my son, Steeven, who has Coffin-Siris Syndrome.

I have chosen to dedicate most of my adult life to working with kids, both my own as well as other people’s children. I was a stay at home mom for many years, had an in-home daycare, volunteered in Children’s Ministries at church, and have worked as a Special Education Assistant for many years.

Q:

Why do you feel Boomerang is going to be a good fit for you?
Kristi with Steeven

A:

Boomerang is a good fit for me for many reasons. One reason is that it will provide me with an income during the summer months as well as days off of school that I don’t typically get paid for.

Another reason is that I have struggled to find a part time job that works for my family’s needs, especially my youngest son. I cannot leave him home alone, he is too old for daycare, plus paying someone to care for him would require most of the money I would make from a part time job. With Boomerang, Steeven can ride along with me and is truly excited about it! He loves to meet new kids, listen to music, and play games on his phone while in the car. He will be able to do all of these things while riding along when I’m driving for Boomerang.

My last reason for Boomerang being a good fit may sound a little strange, but I kinda miss driving my kids to and from places. I don’t miss doing it everyday and on weekends too though, lol! With Boomerang, I will get the opportunity to help families that need to get their child to and from places. There were many times as a family with four kids that we couldn’t physically get our kids to everything they needed to be at, so a service like Boomerang would’ve been helpful.

Q:

What would you say to someone who may be interested in becoming a Boomerang Driver?

A:

I haven’t started driving for Boomerang yet, but am excited to start soon. For other people who may be interested in applying, I would tell them that my meeting with Kim, the owner, was a wonderful experience. I could tell that she truly cares for the families that will be using Boomerang and wants to do everything she can to give the parents peace of mind and keep the children safe. She also cares about the drivers too! She and I had a great conversation about her plans for Boomerang for both the families that will use it as well as the people she will employ. So, if you are looking for a part time job that will allow you to have a flexible schedule, love to be around kids, and enjoy driving, I would recommend you contact Kim and she will answer any questions you may have.
